Competitor Analysis

As someone who is writing a strategy for a personal account, I was unsure of who I would consider as my competition. Since I am not a business, I do not have someone who is selling or advertising for the same product as someone else. The closest thing to competition I feel would be is other Instagram accounts which focus on sharing fun and interesting photos. But even with that, I don’t feel as they are my competition because there are no ‘caps’ with how many people you can follow at once. I follow a few personal travel Instagram accounts and love them. As for an aspirational competitor, I think that there are many of them.

One in particular is the account Traveler. They are an Instagram based account which posts different photos from around the world. The pictures on the account are stunning. They have over 209,000 followers and each photo receives an average of 6,000-7,000 likes. While I would ultimately like to be at that level, it is hard because they have much more resources than I do. They post a photo every day or two. Each photo is so pure and clear. The pictures that they post are from all around the globe. It is evident that the photos that they take are professionally done and are not just taken on an iPhone. I think an amazing thing about this account is that they have many different people submitting photos. I feel that this gives people the feeling of connection because it adds a level of personalization.
At first, they started by putting both pictures on one slab and labeling the location at the top (see photos below), but recently they have just used one single photo and put the location in the caption. I think that this is an interesting move and wonder what prompted that move. When looking at their account and pictures, I do not like the way that it looks when scrolling through. I think that I will use some of the things that I have noticed on their account for my own personal gain.
